چکیده
Extrusion-based 3D printing is steadily gaining importance as a manufacturing technique due to its flexibility and wide range of possible end-products. In the medical field, being exploited for variety applications one these production personalised medicines. However, despite many proof-of-concept studies, more thorough insights in itself required material properties are needed before can be fully hospital or pharmacy setting. This research aims at clarifying complex interplay between properties, process parameters printer-dependent variables. A different polymers polymer-drug blends were extruded (diameter 1.75±0.05 mm) characterised terms mechanical, thermal rheological properties. These together with processing temperature, speeds nozzle diameters printer linked quality end-product. Different failure mechanisms (mechanical, thermal) assessed. Decisive (e.g. cross-over point) optimal behaviour construction (nozzle diameter) clarified. general, this study offers insight into will help speed up future pharmaceutical formulation development printlets.

Stereolithographic (SLA) 3D printing of oral modified-release dosage forms.
The aim of this work was to evaluate the suitability of stereolithography (SLA) to fabricate drug-loaded tablets with modified-release characteristics. The SLA printer creates solid objects by using a laser beam to photopolymerise monomers. In this work polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA) was used as a monomer and diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide was used as a photo-initiator....
متن کاملInjection Moulding of Solid Oral Dosage Forms
Oral solid dosage forms are the most patient-accepted and therefore industrially relevant pharmaceutical applications, representing 80% of the market share. In that context, polymer processing techniques, such as hot melt extrusion (HME) or injection molding (IM), are increasingly used to process primary material into the final dosage forms due to several benefits (e.g., enhanced solubility or ...
متن کاملFoam granulation: new developments in pharmaceutical solid oral dosage forms using twin screw extrusion machinery.
This paper investigates foam granulation in a twin screw extruder as a new continuous wet granulation technique for pharmaceutical powder drug formulations. Foamed aqueous binder has a reportedly lower soak-to-spread ratio than drop or spray liquid addition in batch granulation. This work demonstrates a twin screw extruder configuration for foam granulation and subsequently compares the new app...
متن کاملDual Release System of Solid Oral Dosage Forms
The dual release system is used to achieve both quick and sustained release effect from dosage form. The dual release action achieve by using core compressed tablet, bi-layer or multi layer tablet, IR and SR granules containing matrix tablet and capsules. Some researcher formulated dual release system by incorporating disintegrants for immediate release part and different polymers for sustained...
متن کاملProcess Monitoring of Extrusion Based 3D Printing via Laser Scanning
Extrusion based 3D Printing (E3DP) is an Additive Manufacturing (AM) technique that extrudes thermoplastic polymer in order to build up components using a layerwise approach. Hereby, AM typically requires long production times in comparison to mass production processes such as Injection Molding. Failures during the AM process are often only noticed after build completion and frequently lead to ...
